The Project

El Nevado is a documentary project dedicated to human kind and its interaction with nature and the global community. El Nevado was conceived with the intent of portraying a reality many people know exists yet many choose to ignore. We need your help and support to make it possible. We are looking to raise $25,000 that will go into production and post-production on fall of 2015 and festival fees on January of 2016.

The Plot

El Nevado is a captivating yet awakening story where both nature and human interaction play an important role to explore the reality of the planet’s climate evolution. The aim is to promote the education and active participation in global issues like climate change by inspiring younger generations to use their imagination and resources to shift the balance in favor of sustainability of the human race.

The glaciers are our first warning systems of significant climate change taking place.

Looney Thompson

Location

Raised in Bogota, Colombia, Daniel heard about the beauty of this iconic mountain through his childhood. When he turned 23, he decided to visit the beautiful landscapes of this region and realized that the snow peak was being affected by climate change. This experience had such a strong impact on his life that he felt the need to show what is happening in this part of the world. Six years later children from the US and children living around the snow peak reflect on their lives, the future of the snow peak and the planet. El Nevado is one of six snow peaks left in the country. It is the source of fresh water for more that 40 towns and cities around it, a point of interest for tourist and visitors, but most important is a warning sign of a global issue we are acting upon.
